Rev. Dr. Landrum E. Shields serves as pastor of Covenant Community Church of Indianapolis. Dr. Shields is a community leader having served on the Indianapolis Public School Board, Chaplain of the Indianapolis Police Department, Chaplain at Indianapolis International Airport, Board of Directors of United Way of Central Indiana, Little Red Door, American Red Cross, IUPUI Chancellor's Circle, Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, Crooked Creek Church Council and Church World Service. Dr. Shields is trained in the Billy Graham School of Evangelism.

Before becoming Covenant's founding pastor, Dr. Shields was Senior Pastor of Witherspoon Presbyterian Church of the Whitewater Valley Presbytery (PCUSA), Student’s Chaplain at Howard University/Congregational Church and Pastor of First Congregational Church in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Reverend Shields has been honored by the Mayor and Governor (he is a Sagamore of the Wabash) for his contributions to the Indianapolis area. Before serving at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church, Dr. Shields gained professional experience as a Director of Training for the Central State Hospital, as Associate Faculty Member of Indiana University, as an Instructor of Indiana Central University and as Youth and Adult Secretary of the Indianapolis YMCA. He is a proud father and grandfather as well.

Landrum attended Oberlin College (Ohio) and Indiana University Graduate School. He holds degrees from Lincoln University, Pennsylvania (A.B. Degree), Howard University Divinity School (B.D. Degree) and Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis (M.R.E. Degree and Honorary Doctor of Divinity).
